The right bag can save lives in an emergency. For this purpose, you will find pouches, bags and backpacks for the medical services. Especially when it comes to looking after an injured person, it can be crucial how much equipment you can carry with you and how it is stowed away.

Backpacks and bags for medics, specially designed for military and police use by the German company Tasmanian Tiger, offer a multitude of different options for storing and using complete medical equipment in a safe and accessible manner.

Tasmanian Tiger has expanded its range in this area with the TT Medic Hip Bag. I got the opportunity to take a closer look at this bag. So many thanks to Tasmanian Tiger for making this product available for this review.

Overview

The TT Medic Hip Bag was developed to provide quick and easy medical care. Thanks to the removable hip belt and shoulder belt, the bag can also be attached to backpacks, vests and plate carriers using separate clips (included in the scope of delivery).The sophisticated interior design of the TT Medic Hip Bags allows uncompromising order and a perfect overview of all essential Medic components.

For quick and unrestricted access, the lid with integrated scissor pocket and additional zip compartment can be opened quickly and wide. Inside, numerous large and small equipment loops allow a completely user-defined setup. This almost indestructible Cordura construction with laser cut and M.O.L.L.E. velcro can be easily attached to plate carriers and other equipment in combination with the appropriate adapters.

Since the scissors are one of the first pieces of equipment needed for medical care, a compartment has been attached to the lid of the bag, in which this tool can be attached quickly and within reach. The scissors are secured with a buckle safety device. The size of the scissors can be adjusted and secured using a cord stopper via an inward-running bungee cord.

The zip pocket underneath is large enough to hold various documents such as MIST, smart cards or 9-Line MEDEVAC request or to store several first aid gloves in an accessible position.

In addition to the large main compartment, there are other compartments on the back of the bag, all of which are fitted with a YYK zipper.
The pocket extends across the entire width of the hip bag and is large enough to store documents or material from splints for extremities.

The inside of the lid features elastic loops for glow sticks, pens, Wendel tubes and needle decompressions.

There are three velcro areas at the front, suitable for applying patches for identification. The velcro is attached so that other items of equipment or bags can also be attached here.

Carrying methods of the TT Medic Hip Bag

The TT Hip Bag can either be carried with the included shoulder strap or traditionally as a hip bag. The shoulder strap is not padded and the length can be adjusted accordingly.

With the classic way as a hip bag, a plate carrier or backpack can be easily carried. If the bag is needed, it only needs to be pulled forward and you have great access to the medical material.

Additional Accessories

This Cordura construction with laser cut and MOLLE velcro in combination with the appropriate adapters can be easily attached to plate carriers and other equipment. The adapters for fixing to plate carriers are included in the scope of delivery.

Manufacture

The quality of manufacture leaves no room for criticism. The pack is well made: stress points are reinforced with bartack stitches, the materials used are high quality and I did not even find a single reason to complain when I got the pack.

Up until now it also held up greatly and I do not see any wear or tear. In that sense Tasmanian Tiger was always able to deliver a extremely decent level of quality. High quality 700D Cordura, WJ Buckles and YYK zipper complete the high quality processing of the bag.

In Use 

The comfortable bag is clear and professional. Removable shoulder strap and detachable hip belt, as well as the easy combination with plate carriers, vests and backpacks allow this bag to be used for a variety of purposes.

TT Medic Hip Bag

The bag itself does not take up much space and can be easily accessed on the guard/at the station, in the vehicle, helicopter or lifeboat.

The medical equipment is well divided in the bag, clearly stored, secured against loss and quickly accessible.

Conclusion 

Personally I like the fact that it is up to the user to decide how to carry the bag and to combine it easily with plate carriers, vests and backpacks. In that sense I can only give you a clear and professional recommendation.
