Review: Tasmanian Tiger – TT Note Book Pocket MKII

Introduction

Last year, Tasmanian Tiger introduced the TT Notebook Pocket MKII, and I was fortunate enough to receive one for review purposes. As someone who still uses notes and pens, I’m always interested to see what’s out there in terms of protection or storage solutions for notebooks. The TT Note Book Pocket MKII looked like it would tick several boxes on my wish list, so I was eager to test it out.

Let’s take a closer look!

On the outside, there is daisy chain webbing for attaching items, a Velcro area on the front, and a grab loop made of paracord. It is designed to carry A6-sized notepads.

Inside

  • There are two slip pockets, one with a straight opening and one with a diagonal opening.
  • The slip pockets feature see-through fabric with an abrasion-resistant comb structure.

  • The side with the diagonal slip pocket features two light webbing straps to provide additional mounting options for your notebooks.
  • The back of the TT Note Book Pocket MKII is slightly padded. The padding can be removed through an access point that is closed with Velcro. A similar access point is located at the front.

Level of Manufacture

As with all Tasmanian Tiger products, the TT Notebook Pocket MKII is very well made using high-quality materials and workmanship. I feel like I’m repeating myself, but TT is a company that has quality control nailed, and you can expect an excellent product.

The TT Note Book Pocket MKII in use

So, what can be said about the TT Notebook Pocket MKII in terms of everyday use? Despite its initially beefy appearance, the pouch is easy to carry and fits in the cargo pockets of standard BDU or combat trousers. Thanks to the grab handle, it is easy to remove, and the zipper opens smoothly.

As previously mentioned, the pouch opens like a clamshell. This means that users have to be careful when opening it, as the openings of the slip pockets face each other inside. This means that if you carry slippery items in the upper pocket, they might fall out.

As tactical notebooks or standard notepads tend to differ in size and format, Tasmanian Tiger has added a bit of wiggle room, so you can also fit larger notepads in there — as long as they are no bigger than 12 cm.

The side with the diagonal slip pocket offers multiple carrying options for your notes. You can either use the two webbing straps, the diagonal pocket, or both. The elastic webbing in the other section of the pocket provides ample room for carrying different pens and markers. The smaller loops on the lower elastic webbing help to keep them in place.

All things considered, the TT Note Book Pocket MKII is so much more than your typical notebook pouch. There are two ‚hidden‘ pockets closed by Velcro lids. The one at the back features a thin piece of foam for padding; the one at the front is empty. Depending on where you want the padding, you can add more or simply replace the foam. Alternatively, you can use these pockets to carry additional items that require extra security.

Conclusion

The TT Notebook Pocket MKII is a useful pouch for organising your writing utensils and admin supplies. Not only does it offer several ways to organise your notebook, it also provides additional space to carry more items.

While it is not the smallest notebook pouch, it is just the right size to carry in your cargo pocket. It has served me well in the last few months and if you are looking for a solution to organize your admin/writing items in the field, the pouch is worth taking a closer look.

With that being said, I want to thank Tasmanian Tiger for making this review possible!

Thank you as always for reading!

Take care!
